About aklivity

Founded by the pioneers of WebSocket, Aklivity is redefining how enterprises manage real-time data. Our efforts center on the next-generation of API infrastructure that transforms operational data streams into real-time data products. Platform teams at organizations like Siemens, Kone and N Brown rely on Aklivity to deliver reliable, highly performant governed access to real-time data across teams, applications and systems.

We're a tight-knit, seasoned team of innovators and doers backed by leading investors including 468 Capital, Pear Ventures and Alumni Ventures.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to lead development of a management control plane for Zilla — our streaming-native API gateway. This is a high-impact role that will shape the user experience for how platform teams configure, monitor, and govern access to real-time data. You’ll work closely with our core engineers and early enterprise customers to deliver a modern, performant, and intuitive frontend that will democratize access to real-time data streams both inside as well as across companies.

What You'll Do

  • Design and build the management UI for configuring Zilla deployments, managing Kafka topic access, API policies, security rules, and observability.
  • Collaborate on frontend architecture and component design, with a focus on modularity, testability, and scalability.
  • Integrate with backend services via REST, GraphQL, Postgres and/or gRPC—helping define frontend-friendly APIs where needed.
  • Implement data visualizations for access patterns, throughput, latency, and governance compliance using tools like D3 or Recharts.
  • Define and uphold frontend coding standards, performance targets, and UI accessibility best practices.
  • Iterate on mockups, workflows and wireframes with team members and customers/prospects.
  • Write clear documentation that allows users to learn everything they need to know to effectively use the Zilla Management Console within their environment.

What We're Looking For

  • 5–10 years of experience building and shipping modern SPAs (React preferred).
  • Fluency in TypeScript, modern JS build pipelines (Vite, Webpack), and frontend state management (Zustand, Redux, or similar).
  • Experience building frontend systems for technical users (e.g., DevOps, platform teams, or enterprise admins).
  • Solid understanding of API design, authorization models, and real-time data UIs.
  • Strong product sense: able to translate complex backend concepts (Kafka, APIs, RBAC, metrics) into simple, clear UI interactions.
  • Experience with component libraries (e.g., Tailwind, Radix, shadcn/ui) and building accessible, production-grade UIs.

Why Aklivity

  • Be part of a small, senior team building a product that’s reshaping real-time data infrastructure.
  • Own core user-facing systems from the ground up.
  • Work with customers who are deploying cutting-edge streaming architectures at global scale.
  • Competitive salary, early equity, and benefits.
  • Remote-first with flexible work culture.
